About PNGful
Why PNGful exists
PNGful started with a familiar frustration. You need to shrink a photo for a job application, or convert a logo for a listing, and the first “free converter” you find greets you with fake download buttons, a wall of pop-ups, and a demand that you upload your file to someone else’s server before anything happens.
We thought that was backwards. Modern browsers are perfectly capable of doing this work themselves — so we built a site where they do. PNGful’s purpose is simple: make every image upload-ready, quickly and without the tricks.
Our principles
- Privacy by architecture. Your images are processed in your browser and never uploaded to us. This isn’t a setting — it’s how the site is built. Read the details in our privacy policy.
- Actually free. No account, no sign-up, no watermarks, no “premium” gate hiding the useful features.
- Honest limits. When a tool has constraints — browser memory, format quirks, quality trade-offs — we say so plainly instead of pretending they don’t exist.
How it works
When you drop an image onto a PNGful tool, your browser does the work itself using built-in technologies like the Canvas API and WebAssembly — the same kind of code that powers modern web apps. The file is read from your device, transformed in your browser’s memory, and handed back to you as a download. Nothing is sent over the network, which is also why the tools feel instant: there is no upload to wait for.
Who it’s for
Anyone with an image that needs to fit somewhere: creators sizing thumbnails and covers, students submitting assignments with strict file limits, sellers preparing product photos, developers who need a quick format conversion without installing anything, and job applicants getting a headshot or signature ready for a portal that rejects everything on the first try.
